I went all over Mazar in 2 days so I didn't really catch any names or such. The third picture was close to the entrance of Mazar - I remember that much.

Also known as Zoroaster's birthplace and by Shiite Muslims as the place where Imam Ali is purported to have been buried. Respect for Mazar.

Balkhi's take great pride in their people. On the main road, there are portraits of all the famous poets from Balkh like Rumi, Rabi`a Balkhi, Shahid Balkhi and so forth.

Also, of the people I spoke to, they don't believe that Imam Ali is buried there... It's written outside the Mosque as well that his burial site isn't certain. I also heard an interesting claim that the Mosque is built on top Zarathustra's tomb.
