3  General / General Discussion / Musical war for Khorasan on: September 18, 2008, 04:13:13 AM
Dear Khurasanzad, Maybe you are right that it's early to think about Khorasan and about unity of Tajiks of region (even at a cultural level). I always forget, that else there are very few Tajik patriots among Tajiks of Afghanistan and many Tajiks of Afghanistan feel themselves more Afghans and are more close to Pashtuns, than to Tajiks of Tajikistan, Samarqand and Bukhara.
In Tajikistan 90% of the Tajik youth are patriots of Tajik nation and have Tajik pride and I wrongly think about afghanistani Tajiks as about tajikistani Tajik youth.

Can you post an image of the sculpture?

Unfortunately cannot.

Khurasanzad, it's not war between Tajik and Pashtuns, it's musical struggle for Khorasan (and dont forget: Khorasan is not only your homeland, we are also part of Khorasan).

Currently it´s a bad idea . You really want that the ethnical war between Tajiks and Pushtuns goes on? At the moment we have enough trouble in Afghanistan and we do not need more troubles from Tajikistan. Remember, Afghanistan is still part of a neo-nazi sphere. But I do not say it´s a bad idea but at the moment we decline it. Maybe later, when the situation is better you and your singers can come again with it.

Are you Pashtun?

I will ask my girlfriend about some of the singers she knows personally. She said Dariush (maybe you know him) is a distant relative, and she booked trips for a couple of others (Siavash Ghomeyshi, Ebi). I doubt anything will come out of it, but I will try anyway to see if this could be at least mentioned to them. Of course, they may not sing just for Khorasan but in a different way, with more bias towards Iran, but even that would be better than nothing ... and it would raise awareness among Iranians. Maybe I am being silly, but let me just try a little ... and get back later. In the meantime, keep looking ...

The good song can give patriots of Khorasan more, than forums, books, etc. I think, that the Iranian singers can sing patriotic songs about Samarqand and Bukhara, about Rudaki, and thus to strengthen national pride of Tajiks of Uzbekistan. For example, this Iranian song is very popular in Tajikistan and, I think, also among Tajiks of Samarqand and Bukhara: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn_9BDFLhqo

Tajik sculptor Amri Aminov chosen as UNESCO Artist for Peace

16 September 2008 – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will formally designate the Tajik sculptor Amri Aminov as an Artist for Peace at the Organization’s Headquarters in Paris tomorrow.
UNESCO’s Director-General, Koïchiro Matsuura, will bestow this designation on Mr. Aminov before an audience including Tajikistan’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hamrokhon Zarifi.

Mr. Matsuura welcomed the designation of the artist “in recognition of his contribution to spreading UNESCO’s message of peace and tolerance through his artistic activities and his dedication to the ideals and aims of the Organization,” according to a press release issued by the agency.

UNESCO Artists for Peace are internationally-renowned personalities who use their public influence and charisma to assist in promotion of UNESCO’s message of peace and culture enriching programs. Mr. Aminov will join the host of celebrated Artists for Peace including musician Manu Dibango (Cameroon), dancer Miyako Yoshida (Japan), conductor Valery Guergiev (Russian Federation) and founder of the musical group Gypsy Kings, Chico Bouchikhi (France).

Known for his lost-wax cast bronze statues, Mr. Aminov previously studied in St Petersburg, Russia. Currently living in Paris, the native-born Tajik has created trophies for two of UNESCO’s prizes; the Cities for Peace Prize (1999) and the Special Prize of Cinema for a Culture of Peace, which was awarded to Chinese film director Zhang Yuan in 2000.

Appointed for two years, Mr. Aminov will advocate the ethos of UNESCO’s through activities aimed at the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage, with a particular focus on traditional handicrafts in Central Asia.

There are plenty of Iranian singers in LA ... mostly shallow and crappy, I know ... maybe some of the better ones could be brought along. Even someone like Leila Forouhar who is famous (and a talented, popular singer) went to Tajikistan, so who knows, maybe she could be convinced. She gives free concerts on special occasions (Mehregan, etc.) where no one famous shows up. Or maybe someone more serious could be found if LF is too light ...

Dear Nader Shah aziz, song of famous singers as Leyla would be more effective, but its not easy to attract teir attention. But youth and middle singers can agree with pleasure and free.

But do you think a rap will have a big effect? I think having a Singer like Afzal Shah singing such a song is better.

You are right, but we should be accented on the Tajik youth Khorasan. Good rap song will be more effective for Tajik youth of Khorasan. But we should attract also seriously singers.

You can check for yourself, it is 19,000 from 2007 and I saw this number before but it seems way too low to believe. But in one year it could have jumped much higher and should be 200,000 easily ... It is not a big deal, it is easy to grow internet users very quickly, but I wonder what is going on in TJ that the numbers are so small ? Could it be censorship or government policies that discourage this ? Or is the telecom infrastructure in need of upgrade ?

There can be a problem that there is no exact statistics and the international organizations use old statistics. About censorships: in Tajikistan there are less problems with the state censorship, than in Uzbekistan. And also telecommunications here are more developed, than in Uzbekistan.

Sure. Anything that you need we are here to help :)

Ok. First of all I'l try to find him these days and talk with him about this idea. I think that he will be glad to cooperate with us. Results of of our conversation I will write here.
But now we can prepare text for song. I think that in the text of song there should be these words: Tajik nation, Khorasan ast in jo, Dushanbe, Samarqand, Bukhara, Kabul, Balkhu Herat etc. Has anibody here practice of writing text for rap song?

The problem is, where are we going to find a professional singer. Afrasiab aziz maybe you can because you live in Tajikistan but in the US there are no good singers that can do this.

Well, I can find the good singer. For example, I know the young singer who sings a rap (here he sings with one girl - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbhrpjEPX60). I can talk with him if you (participants of the Tajikam) will help me with the text of song, with music, with propagation of the song through youtube, Khorasan TV and others, i.e. to cooperate with him.
We can prepare patriotic songs about Khorasan, about Tajik unity and spread between Tajiks of the world. esspesialy among Tajiks of Khorasan.

I agree with opinion of Gorzang, that the majority of Uzbaks migrated to Afghanistan from Central Asia in the beginning of 20-th century, but he should not forget, that Tajiks (Iranians) lived on these places thousands years and these grounds belong to them.
