Parsistani,

Just reading the first sentence of your post blinded me. Do you suffer from Downs' Syndrome? I can't comprehend half of the trash you've written.

I'd also appreciate it if you could refrain from calling me an 'Awghan e ghul. Not only are you the biggest moron I've ever encountered, but your argument is poor and you cannot structure a sentence correctly or sensibly.

You're not worth my time.

So, you are calling him impatient, ignorant etc, and what are you doing yourself? The same. How do you know that he knows absolutely nothing about our history?

Nightwish jaan,

did you read my post properly? I clearly stated that he knew nothing about ME, not our history. I also said that his post came across as ignorant and intolerant, not that he WAS ignorant or intolerant.

First of all, I'm a SHE.

Second of all, anyone who has labeled me as 'confused', a 'liar' or whatever else said is CLEARLY intolerant and unaccepting of what others choose to call themselves.
If anything, your regular Afghan would laugh at how idealistic some of your thoughts are. "Let's call Afghanistan 'Khorasan' or 'Aryana.'" - are you serious? Please wake up and smell the flowers! If UNITY is a concept that'll take a while for the citizens of Afghanistan to adjust to, then we may as well start creating a uniting bond outside of the country... and this is what is happenning whether you like it or not. I don't know of a single Afghan that tells others they're "Tajiks" or "Pashtuns" or what not. They are AFGHAN but still take pride in their ethnic heritage.

You lot are just ashamed of what a few retards have done to your land and now you choose to connect with an identity that you feel is more 'pure.' And you know what? UNLIKE most posters here, I DON'T CARE. If that's what makes you happy, then go ahead and yell it to the whole world. But please, respect my choice in freely calling myself an Afghan.

Also Parsistani, you don't need to give me a geography or history lesson. I'm well aware that Berbers are semitic just like Arabs. But Pashtuns are also Iranic like Tajiks - what the hell is your point? I'm also aware that Brazil is an ethnically diverse nation; they were just examples. Additionally, there are many Hazaras near where I live and they call their language Persian. Stop pulling shit out of your arse Parsistani. You're becoming a bore.

I think, that Lindt names himself "Afghan" because he badly knows history of region, history of Khorasan. If he knew history well and if knew who are Tajiks/Persians and who are Pashtuns he had more Tajik pride, than Afghan. It's not important how others name us in the West, It's important whom we really feel ourselves. Having told, that we are Afghans, we do not become them. Even if we shall accept pashtun language and we shall forget our native Persian language we become second-grade Pashtuns.
By the way Samarqand and Bukhara are in Uzbekistan, but we cannot name Tadjiks of these cities as Uzbeks because they are from uzbekistan but not from Tajikistan.

Afrasiab jaan,

Your post has made me rather impatient, so let me just remind you to never assume. You sound ignorant and intolerant by doing so. I am well aware of Afghanistan's history and do not need someone like you who knows absolutely nothing about me to tell me what I am and what I'm not. I don't intend on being rude, so I apologise if that's how I've come across, but this was the only way I could express to you how I felt.

Why does it bother you so much if I call myself an Afghan? I'm not affecting you or anyone else in anyway.

As for your argument on Kurds, yeh, they call themselves Kurds. So what? Do hazaras call themselves Hazaras in the west? No, they refer to themselves as Afghans. Do Moroccans call themselves Berbers in the west? No, they're Moroccan. Do Brazilians call themselves Portuguese? No, they're Brazilian. That said, I couldn't care less if someone's ethnic identity was mentioned before their nationality. And until Afghanistan splits - if it ever does - I will continue to call myself an Afghan before I call myself a Tajik.

Rostam: STFU.

Pur e Zaal: How an individual introduces themselves has nothing to do with pride or being a "true Tajik." In the West, an Afghan is anyone from Afghanistan. Hence, I am an Afghan by my parents' nationality, Australian by my own nationality and ethnically, I am a Tajik. Furthermore, one doesn't commit a lie when they say they are Afghan instead of Tajik.

How I (or other Tajiks from Afghanistan - and I know plenty!) refer to themselves is absolutely no ones business. I'll tell people I'm Afghan because I am, but at the same time I couldn't give a damn if someone said they were a "Tajik from Afghanistan."

Unity:

If I tell someone I am Uzbek they will think i am from Uzbekistan.
If I tell someone I am Chinese they will think I am from China.
These are just examples btw. Chinese and Uzbeks do live outside of both Uzbekistan and China, but most people don't know that.

With other words, i am a Tajik but i represent myself as an Afghan=Pashtoon. :( Correct me if i am wrong

lol Farangis... To MOST people, Afghan = anyone from Afghanistan. All my Afghan friends, whether they are Pashtun, Tajik or Hazara (cos they're the only ethnic groups from Afghanistan i've ever met!) call themselves AFGHANS. My Pashtun friends call me AFGHAN. Between us, there is none of this "I'm Pashtun" or "I'm Tajik" nonsense. We all have ancestry from the same land and we're just content to know that we share something.
179  General / General Discussion / Afghanistan win first ever Olympic medal on: August 21, 2008, 02:38:52 AM
Unity, i am not denying anything. I am a Tajik, yes. But I'm also Afghan.
Afghan isn't a dirty word... I don't know why others on this forum haven't come to terms with their Afghan identity.

I think there is nothing wrong to call you a Tajik.

But there's nothing wrong with calling myself an Afghan, right?
