“Ahmadinejad’s government should protect interests of the state in agreements in the fields of trade and industry,” Hamidrza Fuladger, a member of the Industrial Commission of the Iranian Parliament, told TrendNews on 27 November.

The government signed a contract with Latin American countries, while there are not similar contracts with neighbor countries, including Tajikistan, which shares common language with Iran, Fuladger said.

Tajik President Imamali Rahmon visited Tehran on 27 November. Rahmon will discuss different regional and international issues with Iranian officials during the visit. The sides will sign a contract in the fields of trade and industry.

Posted: 2008/11/28
From: MNN

Visiting Tajik President Imamali Rakhmon conferred on Thursday with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on expansion of mutual relations and cooperation.

At the meeting, the two presidents reviewed the current global developments and the economic crisis in the West and called for formation of an independent economic system in the region.

The two presidents also underlined that strategic ties between Iran and Tajikistan are now developing and urged the need to further broaden cooperation using each other's capabilities and experiences.

There are many grounds for expansion of mutual ties in the areas of water, electricity, energy, construction of dams, railway tracks, industry and mines, setting up of free trade zones as well as industrial cooperation, underlined the two presidents.

Referring to deep-rooted ties between the two nations, the two presidents called for expansion of cultural cooperation through establishment of a joint TV and radio station to properly introduce the rich culture of Iran and Tajikistan to world nations.

Iran sees no limits on broadening economic cooperation with Tajikistan, said President Ahmadinejad.

Iran is ready to hold training workshops in various scientific, industrial and economic fields for Tajik businessmen, he said.

The Tajik president, for his part, described the visit as very fruitful and said Dushanbe spares no effort to broaden all-out cooperation and relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

An active Iran-Tajikistan Joint Economic Commission would be to the benefit of both nations, he said. --IRNA
