Most likely - he is from Badakhshan.

The songs are very good and catchy.

Qataghan is a Turkic name for that region - a left over of the time when it was dominated by the Tajik killer Murad Beg Uzbek.

What does QATA GHAN mean?   What kind of word is it ? Is it s mixture of Turkic and some other language - like QARABAGH (QARA - black in turkic ,  Bagh - garden in Persian)

Anyone know?

During the Mughul domination this part of Khorasan(Badakhshan & Takhar) was given to a military commander of the Changizis to rule.  His name was Amir Qazghan.  This is how the area got the reputation of Qataghan, but now it covers the area more than Takhar and Badakhshan.
