Hello, my first language is English, and I am currently in classes learning Tajiki. However, it is a very accelerated course for gifted students, I get good grades in college but here it is very difficult for me and I am afraid I might fail. Mostly my problem comes with just memorizing words, and a little bit of grammar I do not understand. Reading the language is no problem for me and I managed to do that in 1 day.

As for many schools for Persian languages, I am attending one out of the only three in the whole country. I think this is the only place I have left to go to, to get help.

Are you sure Kalpesa is lizard?  I mean this name here?

Yes, we also call it Chalpasa in Afghanistan, perhaps a little bit differnce in pronounciation.

If Nadir Shah were here, he would have told us what they call it.  I miss him, havent heard of him for sometime now, he promised to send me a few pictures of iran, but I havent received them yet.

I think marmolak is the same as Mar, but a little one.  Again, we need Nadir Shah here.

Kalpesa consist of two words. "Kal" meaning "bold" (or without hair) and "pes" (or pesa in our case) meaning one or two color. So, kalpesa means lizard which is bold and has one or two colors in its skin.

In Iran, as I mentioned before, they call it "maarmaalak". It also comes from two words "maar" meaning snake and "maalak" or "maalidan" meaning to crawl.

In Afghanistan, you said, people call it chalpasa. What does "chal" mean? I guess "pasa" is the other version of "pes" or "pesa". But it's very funny how "kal" became "chal". Or do people in Afghanistan call "bold" "chal"?

In Iran we call it :
Farsi alphabet : مارمولک
Cyrillic alphabet : Мормӯлак
English alphabet : Marmoolak
