Azerbaijan Republic is Iran's biggest enemy and two years ago Iranian politicians went and sign a military alliance with such an enemy! Azerbaijan Rep has made redicilous claims to 5 of Iran's provinces. They should realise that first of all Azerbaijan was name of the territory which is in Iran, the so called Azerbaijan Republic was not known by that name until 1918! Their region was called Arran and Shervan throughout many years. Azerbaijan Republic & her disgraceful allies and supporters in Iran(traitors to Iran) should realise that daydreamers & aggressors & traitors might only survive in fairytales and not in the real world.

Absolutely correct. I have been to Azerbaijan a couple of times and have met many Azeri intellectuals in the republic and abroad who don't share the official opinion about their ethnic roots and don't see Iran as their archenemy.

Azerbaijan's current government are lackeys of Washington and the Baku Ceyhan pipeline sponsors - they are definitely not the representatives of the Azerbaijani people. They have an interest in destabilizing Iran - hence their bigoted remarks.

I meant their government. Among Iran's neighbours UAE and Azerbaijan Republic's government are biggest enemy to Iran. As for non-bordered neighbours who are enemies we all know who they are.

I met many Azeris of Azerbaijan, but all of them were antiiranian. Only Azerbaijanian Talishs spoke with sympathy about Iran. Generally Caucasian azeris strongly differ from us. I do not know about Iranian Azeris, but by character and by spirit Uzbeks and even Russian are more close to us Tajiks, than azeris of Azerbaijan.

1)pan-Turkists claim that from Korea all the way to Hungary being turkic land
2)They claim that the name of Azerbaijan is Turkish!!!!
3)They claim that Babak Khorramdin & Nezami-Ganjavi were Turks
4)Not only they haven't appologised to Armenians, Assyrians, Taleshi and Kurdish
for the crimes Turks committed against these ethnic groups, they go and deny such events ever occured!!!
5)pan-Turks in Iran go on and claim that such Azeri-Iranian heros such as Nader Shah Afshar(who was from Khorasan), Mohammad Taghi Khan Pesyan(who was a kurd born-in Tabriz) and Sheikh Mohammad Khiyabani who founded the Autonomous State of Azadistan were pan-Turks and had pan-turkic tendencies. Unfortunately in Iran most call themselves Turk and are called Turk by others. The term "Azari" is rarely used, or at least not as often, in popular culture. However, the Azaris living in Tehran are very well integrated, no matter what they are called. North of Tabriz there may be some people who are influenced by Pan - Turkists, based on a recent opinion poll, probably broascasts from Azarbaijan Republic.

It is a problem we have to deal with. I spoke to an Afghanistani friend in Canada a few days ago and he told me that to do business in Iran you have to know Turkish (Azeri) or else you will be shut out. He said "Turks" own all the business in Iran and they behave like Jews, always helping each other and shutting out others. I am not saying he is right - just quoting him.

I once asked an Iranian Azeri what he thought of separation - he said as long as there is oil we are staying, but of course he seemed to be joking.

Iran could also stir more trouble in Turkey among Kurds, and if tiny Armenia can annex part of Azarbayjan republic, then one might think Iran can do the same (especially annex the Talysh parts in the south). Unfortunately for Iran, Russia who was solidly behind Armenia and scared Turkey away from meddling will not do the same for Iran. And the US would love the opportunity to get Turkey involved and help them by bombing Iran. But in the future if Iran and US patch up relations, it may become possible to annex parts of Azarbayjan Republic and cut them down to size. They should be amputated so that little remains of them ... At the same time, Turkey should be amputated of its Kurdish areas as well .. but Iran is almost alone - Afghanistan is Pashtun controlled and weak, and Tajikistan is too remote and weak.

Having said this, I think the best Iran can do for the next 5-10 years is to focus on building the country, increasing its scientific know-how, improving its economic status in the world, and avoid conflicts and wars. But with many incompetent, pseudo-religious, and ideologically-driven people in power, this is not going to proceed very well or fast.
