One is in Persian which is updated frequently and the other is in Persian (Cyrillic). Additionally, the English page is still running and has a vast amount of information on Tajiks and Persians.

Dorood friends!

Now that we have Tajik sisters active on our forum this made me think that we need to have a Tajik female also in the Banner at the top.

I think we should have a picture of someone like Rabia Balkhi who was the first Persian female poet. There are schools and hospitals named after her in Balkh and surrounding regions.

What do you all think?

Yeah, because she was in love with Baktash, if I'm not mistaken. It's appalling. This kind of honor killings happen even today.

I don't get it, if she loved Baktash why her brother killed her?
I mean, doesn't he want to see her sister happy?

That very rude!

Hanzoli Badghisi is another female poetess. Some of the historians consider Hanzola to be the first Farsi poetess in post arab invasion. Others consider Rabia Balkhi to be the first one. Nevertheless, both of them were the poineers of Farsi poetry after advent of Islam. Rabia was a Samanid princess, Haris--her brother, when he found out that she was in love with one of their slaves by the name of Baktash... he threw her in a Hamam ( bathhouse), and that is where she died. While in bathhouse, she cut her vein and wrote love poetry on the walls of the bathhouse with her blood. Some of her poems survived today,

I am caught in Love's web so deceitful
None of my endeavors turn fruitful.
I knew not when I rode the high-blooded stead
The harder I pulled its reins the less it would heed.
Love is an ocean with such a vast space
No wise man can swim it in any place.
A true lover should be faithful till the end
And face life's reprobated trend.
When you see things hideous, fancy them neat,
Eat poison, but taste sugar sweet
