Covering a distance of 1600 miles in 9 days by horses, 178 miles in a day, and 7.4 miles per hour if they were going 24 hours/day. pretty impressive! Even today, 2500 years later, we dont have a similar and efficient mail delivery system in Afghanistan.lol thanks to awghans!
I dont think there is an afghanistan quiz, but I initiated a thread about tajik culture and history.

Same here, 8 out of 8.
Next time they should choose better and harder questions.

Today I looked through that special issue of National Geographic and loved it. It contains a free map of the Ancient Iran. There was a very interesting bit of information on the map:
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of nights stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." The words inscribed over New York City's main post office are borrowed from Greek historian Herodotus, who was describing the exploits of the horseback couriers of the Achaemenid kings. Carrying oral or written messages, they galloped in relays between rest stations on the Royal Road: 1,600 miles in nine days."
