One is in Persian which is updated frequently and the other is in Persian (Cyrillic). Additionally, the English page is still running and has a vast amount of information on Tajiks and Persians.

Who is called Tajik and what defines Tajik ethnicity?

I am confused because I've come across people who are thought to be of a different ethnicity but are listed as a Tajik. Does politics play a role? Or is it a combination of Language and Politics?

http://complexoperat...dullah_Abdullah (Doesn't say anything about the ethnicity of Dr.Abdullah?!?! What is he and what shoud us perceive him as.

Doctor Abdullah was the first Foreign Minister of Afghanistan followign the overthrow of the Taliban.[1] (Like many Afghans he has only one name, but he is routinely referred to as Abdullah Abdullah.) Abdullah served as the Foreign Minister in the Afghan Interim Authority and the Afghan Transitional Administration, from 2002 through 2004, prior to the first post-Taliban elections. Karzai replace many of his ministers after he was elected in 2004. But he kept Abdullah on as Foreign Minister.
In 2009 Abdullah competed with Karzai and 36 other Presidential candidates.

Mohammad Farhad Azimi (who is often referred to simply as Farhad Azimi) is a young Tajik politician from Balkh Province who recently became a Member of Parliament for Balkh in the Wolesi Jirga. Azimi is closely connected to Ustad Atta Mohammad Noor, the governor of Balkh. In 2005, he was elected as Provincial Council Head for Balkh's 19 person Provincial Council.[1] In 2010 Azimi campaigned for a seat in the Wolesi Jirga as an independent candidate and collected 10,787 votes, coming in eighth in the Province, last place amongst the winning male candidates.[2]

Doctor Fazlullah Mujadedi is a member of the Wolesi Jirga from Logar Province. Mujadedi is a Tajik and was once Provincial Governor of Logar Province. He also fought as a commander for Jamiat-i Islami.[1] In 2005 he ran in the parliamentary elections and won a seat from Logar with 4,248 votes (5.8%), the highest total in the province.[2] In the Wolesi Jirga he has sat on the Legislation Committee.[1]

Welcome to Tajikam,

Dr. Abdullah is half-Tajik and Farhad Azimi is 100% Tajik from Balkh. I don't know why this Mujadeddi is listed as a Tajik.

TTP, in general, every Persianspeaker who do not tend to live in a tribalic culture, do not have a confused identity, speak Persian and can trace it´s ancestory to Persian history, language, culture and civilisation ...and DO NOT BELONG to Pashtuns, Hazaras, Uzbaks, Turkmen or even to Arabs (all of them tribalic) is a Tajik.

Abdullah is indeed a Tajik. Sometimes, specially in the past during the various shameless trying of Pashtuns to Pashtunize the country, many non-Pashtuns tended to call themself as Pashtun to gain something. Abdullah Abdullah is a Shia Tajik from Kandahar and Sunni from Kabul region. Mujadeddi is actually an Arab, a Persianspeaking Arab from Syria. The current government of Kabul, is his son, and he is listed as a Pashtun. neverlessness, Tajiks need to wipe every non-Tajik, specially Pashtuns and Arabs, out in their regions.

F.ex. read the following writing:

Quote

Those circumstances explain why non-Pashtun Afghan inhabitants claim to be afghân within national borders only if they hold a position as a public servant. Other reasons for adopting a virtual Pashtun-like identity are a marked nationalistic attitude of politicians and an instrument for ethnic camouflage by marginalized groups. The latter case again discloses the value-loaded instrument of ethnicity and hence the supremacy of Pashtun identity in Afghan socio-political life (Centlivres and Centlivres- Demont 1988: 35). The inter-ethnic cleavage is a function of unequal allocation of political power.
