Interesting ... Nader Shah moved them to Khorasan ;) . So are the Qaraei Persian looking or have they kept some East/Central Asian features ?

The Qaraei or Kara Tatar(Persian: ??? ??,Persian: ??? ??,Persian: ??? ??? ??,Turkish: Kara Tatar) are an ethnic group of Tatar origin who live between Altay Mountains and Black Sea, basically in Central Asia, Middle East, Transcaucasia and Eastern Europe. They have adopted the language of the country they settled in, for instance in eastern Iran they speak Persian and in Turkey speak Turkish and in former USSR speak Russian.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Qara Tatars started to call themselves Qaraei and served in the Safavid Persian Army.
Throughout this period they were scattered across Iran and Afghanistan by the Safavid Shahs who feared their power.
However when Nader Shah became the Emperor of Persia in 1735, he gathered some of the Qara Tatars from across Persia, approximately 4,000 families and settled them in Khorasan in Torbat-e Heydarieh and Khaf townships and made Najafaliqoli Khan Qara Tatar as their chief.
From this time their power grew which then from (1802-1816) under Sardar Eshaq Khan Qaraei-Torbati and subsequently under his son Sardar Mohammad Khan Qaraei-Torbati (1823-1829) had formed an independent Khanate in Khorasan who posed a threat to the ruling Qajar Dynasty of Persia.

No, Qaraei were scattered across Persia. The Qaraei in Khorasan, had been moved there by Timur, so since 15th century they've been there.

When Nader Shah became Shah of Persia, he decided to choose a chief for them, so he brought Najafaliqoli Khan Qara Tatar from Western Iran(i think Azerbaijan) and settle him and his tribe in Khorasan so his tribe mixed with the Qaraei tribes who were already in Khorasan.

Qaraei were some of Nader Shah's most loyal members of his army. In 1729 They were in the divisions which were commanded by Nader's brother Ebrahim Khan Afshar, two Qaraei khans by the names of Mohammad Ali Khan and Baqer Khan fought in the battles against Ashraf-e Afghan and they helped Nader in taking the throne of Persia. In 1740s, he had taken Islam Khan & Fath Khan to Dagistan & Azerbaijan when he was fighting against native people there, he made these two governors of Ganca.

In the last years of his reign, Nader Shah felt threatened by the power of some Qaraei chieftains, for instance in 1745, he basically sent Haji Mohammad Beg Qaraei to Northern Khorasan to fight the Kurds(Nader was assured that this was going to be a tough battle and Haji Mohammad will surely lose his life). Nader also tried to weaken Qaraei power and moved some of them to Kerman province, so yes Qaraei people of Kerman are descendants of Khorasani qaraeis.
In 1750 Hossein Khan Qaraei played a part in supporting Mir Mohammad Marashi to take the throne as Suleiman II and helped in blinding Shahrokh Mirza.

In 1749 Amir Khan Qaraei had sieged Mashhad and possed a threat to Shahrokh Mirza and in 1788 Nader's great-grandson Nasrollah Mirza had powerful chief Hasan Khan Qaraei executed.

My ancestor, Eshaq Khan Qaraei was a Persian(Tajik) shepard of Najafqoli Khan, after Najafqoli khan was murdered he married his daughter, so from then on descendants of Eshaq have more Persian features than turkic. So yes, I look more Persian than Tatar/Turkmen ;-)
Eshaq Khan initially was a supporter of Nader Mirza Afshar but later on he formed an alliance with Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar(1796) and later in 1801 helped Fath Ali Shah to depose Nader Mirza Afshar. In 1813, he tried to take power in Khorasan by taking over his son-in-law Mohammad Vali Khan Qajar(son of Fath Ali Shah) as Governor of Khorasan, in 1816 Fath Ali Shah ordered the exceution of Eshaq and his oldest son Hasan Ali Khan. Between 1823-1832 Mohammad Khan, son of Eshaq revolted against the Qajar and was defeated numerous times, he formed an alliance with Khan of Khwarazm, Khan of Hazara people, Fath Khan Vazir of Afghanistan and Seyd Mohammad Kalati. Qajars were very worried because of these alliances and sent strong troops to Khorasan.

Also 3 marriage alliances with Qajars took place:
1823: marriage of Mohammad Khan's sister to Prince Hasan Ali Khan Shoja-os-Saltaneh Qajar, Prince Qahreman Mirza their son is ancestor of Ghahreman, Qahreman family in Mashhad.
1832: marriage of a son of Mohammad Khan to a daughter Crown Prince Abbas Mirza Qajar.
1832: marriage of a daughter of Mohammad Khan to a son of Crown Prince Abbas Mirza Qajar.
Mohammad Khan again revolted despite these marriage alliances, so he was arrested in 1832 and taken to Tehran where he was imprisoned for two years, then lived in exile in Tabriz and Karbala.
