Gul agha Icon : (03 May 2013 - 04:29 PM) Sohrab, Tajikam doesn't only consist of a forum. We have two major sections in this website. One is in Persian which is updated frequently and the other is in Persian (Cyrillic). Additionally, the English page is still running and has a vast amount of information on Tajiks and Persians.

  5. Differences in languages

    Posted 3 Feb 2010

    Hi

If an Iranian, a person from Tajikistan and a Tajik speaker from Afghanistan were talking how would their speech be perceived.
For example I was told someone from Finland on hearing an Estonian speak would think the Estonian was probably from the countryside and not very well educated even if that was not the case.
I have to say I was told this by a Finn so I have no idea how true it is :-). I have read Tajik has elements of an older Persian preserved more than the language spoken in Iran, which in England could be considered a sign of being well educated. I don't intend to cause any offense by this just wonder how the influences of other languages i.e. English on the Afghans speech and Russian on the Tajiks speech have caused any changes.

    Best Regards Paul
