One is in Persian which is updated frequently and the other is in Persian (Cyrillic). Additionally, the English page is still running and has a vast amount of information on Tajiks and Persians.

    Nice comment.

I wish there was a video version of this.

Spanta is said to be from Herat and a former Maoist - and currently probably a spy for Germany. I am not sure if he is a Tajik - but he certainly is not a representative Tajik interests.

The most important ministries for long last change is the ministry of finance and the ministry of education - both of which are in the hands of anti Persian Pashtuns. The minister of finance is the head of the Afghan Mellat party - and the minister for Education of Hanif Atmar - a clever chovanist Pashtun. These two are attempting to engineer the socio-economic fabric of the country to become a much more Pashtun one - with all of the backing of the world bank - and many other international agencies.

The Tajiks in government - have no real care for the implications of these efforts by these ministers - as long as they have their posts. But then again to change a system - it is easier to do it if you are a part of it - rather than being on the outside - so it is not so easy decide what is the best method for bringing reform.

  2. In Topic: Parliament of Afg is debating over language in universities

    Posted 7 Aug 2008

This is another symptom of the tribal concept of Afghanistan - where they do not realize the importance of leaving the universities to teach in which ever language they deem fit.

It is part of the process of moving towards a single language in the country - that of Pashto - which will never happen - but just cause more disunity.

IT will only cause more hatred - and be a cause for uniting the Parsi speakers to be more outspoken about this dirty tribal concept of 'Afghanistan'.

By the way - the University of Peshawar in Pakistan - in the heart of the Pashtun lands - uses English as the language of instruction - which says a lot about the status of Pashto as a language of education.
  3. In Topic: How can we keep our language and culture alive?

    Posted 7 Aug 2008

We need to form organizations that teach Parsi to our young. Those of us from Afghanistan whom form organizations should make it clear that its purpose is to teach PARSI as opposed to 'Afghan culture' - as some pf our confused brothers fall into the trap of saying.

An ideal situation would be one where all of our populations in the diaspora are catered for in Parsi schools and that they take group trips to places of cultural significance - like KONYA in Turkey - all over IRAN - and Afghanistan and Pakistan, India and Central Asia. Visiting archaeological sites and attending musical gatherings - poetical gatherings - aswell as highly academic lectures given by scholars from the world's greatest universities.

In the UN - the recognition of the services to humanity by Persian culture is recognized and is celebrated - yet it is unknown to most of our fellow Parsi speakers - we can arrange trips and seminars to the UN for the attendees of of the Parsi schools and so on.

The point I am making is the potential for a very active and effective program to be put into practice exists - we just need vision - leadership and the requires resources to get it all going.

A few of the benefits would be - the securing of knowledge of the Parsi amongst our young and instilling a sense of unity and shared purpose within them - a few of whom would no doubt go on to achieve positions of great influence within the powerful institutions of the world - which would then open up the possibility of affecting change directly onto our homelands.

  4. In Topic: Tajiks should separate from Pashtuns to form independent state "Khuroson"

    Posted 6 Aug 2008

    Guys,

Changing international borders is a messy process and requires lots of resources. The political unification of Tajikistan and Khurasan (Afghanistan) can come about without having to get rid of the border officially - you can simply remove Visa requirements and make sure that the citizens of the two countries have all of their rights protected no matter in which jurisdiction they choose to reside. This can extended to Iran aswell. Then we will have circumnavigated the problems of changing international borders.

I do not personally believe in splitting up any part of present day Afghanistan - I am of the view that it is all part of my land. Khurasan has always been multinational - we need to make it work.

  5. In Topic: Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan to launch joint TV network

    Posted 6 Aug 2008

As far as I see it - the basic reason for having a TV station between Iran Afghanistan and Tajikistan is the common Persian language - and so the inclusion of anything else would be a deviation from this path and an excuse to stop it all together.

Afghanistan and Pakistan should have a shared Pashto channel ! That would be great for neighborly relations and a a great way to put in the past the differences over the irredentism of Afghanistan towards Pakistan.
