Mottaki expresses hope Iran-Tajikistan-Afghanistan summit be held soon E-mail

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki expressed hope Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan summit will be held as soon as possible.

Ina meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon Tuesday evening on the sidelines of 37th Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) ministerial meeting in Tajikistan, Mottaki said holding the first OIC ministerial meeting in Tajikistan shows that Central Asian countries are playing role as an important part of the World of Islam.

"Tajikistan has worked actively in holding regional and international issues," he added.
Mottaki also met Kazakh Foreign Minister.
He is to deliver speech in the session on Wednesday.

Emomali Rahmon on his part said, "we call for continuous talks and bilateral, regional and international cooperation in different fields."
The two sides also discussed the issue of Afghanistan and Shanghai Cooperation Organization as well.

Leading a delegation, Mottaki left for Dushanbe Monday night.

The three-day meeting opened Tuesday in the presence of 57 delegates of the OIC member states.

Also foreign ministers of the OIC member states spoke in the session.

The meeting mainly focused on holy Quds, Middle East free of nuclear weapon, Somalia, Islamophobia and elevating women’s status.
