One is in Persian which is updated frequently and the other is in Persian (Cyrillic). Additionally, the English page is still running and has a vast amount of information on Tajiks and Persians.

Assalam O Allaikum

I am Sher Karim from Pakistan, I represent a minority tajik community (Wakhi speaking Tajik) living in the pakistani side of the Pamir knot. The Wakhi speaking people live around the Broghel Pass area of Chitral District of the North Western Frontier Province of Pakistan, in the Ishkoman valley of Ghizar District and Gojal in the Hunza Nagar Districts of Gilgit - Baltistan.

Due to the unfortunate geo-political divide of this region, In my personal opinion, we, the Tajik have suffered so hugely that their language and traditions have nearly lost. The people have not been able to see each other due to many reasons including, political boundaries, the cold war between the capitalistic and the communist world, the extra ordinary difficult mountainous terrains and the socio-economic condition of the people.

Now these most of these conditions have immensely improved and the access to modern tools of information technology and the spread of Internet has brought us with the opportunity to make contacts with people of same race and traditional backgrounds using these techniques world wide.

I am looking forward to our brothers and sisters world wide to come up and exchange information so that a linkage is established between us before we are lost in the flow of materialistic personal gains in the process of competing for living in this ever changing and competitive world.

Asalamu Alaikum my proud Wakhi brother. We, Tajikam, welcome you as one member of our own blood and flesh. I was since this forum was creating wishing having some eastern-Iranian Tajiks among us, specially direct descandants of ancient Bactria. Welcome. Khosh Amaaded.

Sorry brother for my ignorance, but what do you mean with ''suffered so hugeley that....have nearly lost''? Tajiks have still the same culture and language as their ancestors. Of course, some Tajik sub-groups kept their language because of isolation still at the same level as it was for 1000 years but culturally, genetically, ethnically and even lingual we are still related with eachother. Look, Ibn Sina (Aviccena), the father of ''modern medicine'', had a Wakhi mother, while Al-Farabi had Persian-Sogdian father and a Turfanian mother, comparable with today Shughnan and Ishkashim Tajiks...and so on. I would be very happy to hear more about you and our other Wakhi people. Please invite them all. United Tajiks!!!

Dear Brother, perhaps I was not able to make my point, actually I was referring to the long time since these the people to people contact was denied because of the almost century long state of cold was and political rivalries between governments. People were stranded between tightly closed boundaries. This reasons has at least barred the Wakhi people of Pakistan to keep contact with the Wakhis of Afghanistan, China and of course Tajikistan.

Today, for instance, Wakhis and Tajiks in Tajikistan may not be aware of how many and in what conditions are we people living in Pakistan.

Thank you very much for accepting me as part of the community and your warm welcome. I will surely introduce more people to this community and hope that a very informative interaction will greatly benefit us.

Thanks once again

Sher
